Etheric Cords

Etheric Cords (also known as ethereal cords, energy cords, energy ribbons, & soul ties) are energy structures that connect into your aura and chakras. They extend out of you and connect with other people, places, animals, and even objects (rarely spirits but possible). Etheric Cords allow you to feel a connection with what you have corded with. This can happen intentionally or subconsciously. For example :

  • Forming a Vow, Commitment, or Agreement

  • Emotional Attachment

  • Sharing & Giving physical intimacy

Once connected you will then start to receive energetic information from this person, place, animal, or object. This information is carried back to you via the cord. Meaning you are also allowing the other side of that cord, access to your personal energy and to affect you. Etheric Cords can be toxic if the relationship or connection is not serving your highest good. This is especially true with ex-lovers, frenemies, narcissists, energy vampires, etc. In this case this would be considered a Toxic Soul Tie. Etheric Cords can be either constructive or destructive in nature. Common symptoms of a Soul Tie include :

  • Sharing an empathic connection

  • Having your mind flooded with random thoughts of them

  • Eager to bond with them deeper & more often

A healthy Soul Tie will make you feel empowered, confident, and feeling validated. An unhealthy Soul Tie may lead to obsession, addiction, entrapment, or manipulation. Individuals who share a soul tie are connected not only in soul but, also in flesh and mind. Soul Ties can be classified into 3 categories : Intellectual, Physical, or Emotional.

Cutting The Cord

Once you are aware that you have a Toxic Soul Tie, it is best that you “Cut The Cord” to sever the connection. This will prevent you from sensing them and from them possibly draining or siphoning off of you. Make sure to end the relationship, to cut off all physical access, and do NOT engage with any form of communication. Next, you will need to cleanse your personal energy.

  • Smoke Cleanse (Incense, Resins, Burning loose herbs)

  • Flordia Water, Running Water, or Precipitation

  • Herbal Baths, Crystal Baths, Salt Baths

  • Cleansing Sprays

  • Sound Frequencies (Singing Bowls, Bells, Tuning Forks, etc)

  • Using Selenite for clearing your energy

After cleansing your personal energy, the next step is to intentionally cut the cord. You can do this in different ways. Do what resonates and makes sense for you.

  • Receive a Reiki Healing Session (the Reiki Practitioner or Reiki Master can sever the cords for you)

  • Call upon Archangel Michael or your Spirit Guide Team to remove the attachment

  • Use Black Obsidian or Black Tourmaline to sever the cords with focused intention and visualization

  • Journal your relationship/attachment and burn the pages to release the connection and transmute any residual energies (also helps to add banishing herbs to the paper your burning, make sure to fold or crumble the paper away from you as an act of removing influence).

  • During Mediation focus on the connection/attachment. Be aware of where you feel this cord within your personal energy and body. Once you sense the cord itself, karate chop the cord while stating your intention out loud. You may repeat your prayer, chant, intention as many times as you feel is necessary.

What to do after Cutting the Cord

Once you have cut the cord, give yourself a moment to process any emotions or thoughts that may be coming to the surface and release them with a full heart. Ground yourself afterwards, cleanse your energy once again, and shield yourself for your own protection. It is common for the other person to subconsciously sense the connection is gone, so they may reach out to gauge if you are doing better without them or if they simply still have access to you.

Remember that you are in control of your own life and you get to choose what you wish to associate with, tolerate, and pour energy into. Just make sure that the connections in your life are serving your highest good, are reciprocal, and empowering. Keep strong boundaries and be mindful of your energy.
